‘…one wish for air and liberty…’ – with Charlotte Gale

Saturday, September 22, 2018
6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

An Exploration of Gardens and Landscapes in the novels and life of Jane Austen provides a unique insight into the English landscape. From her letters, we learn she is excited by the contortions of the Labyrinth in Sydney Gardens and enjoys the Picturesque landscape of Beechen Cliff. Landscape ‘improvements’ and trends in ‘ornamental gardening’ are topics of debate within her novels and enliven our understanding of garden history today.
