My 10 years, (and counting) of the Jane Austen Festival!
With attending the Festival for ten years, there are so many wonderful memories to choose from!
Having my husband dress-up in Regency costume for our first festival was very special and for me experiencing the difference wearing Regency clothing has on the way you walk, your posture was certainly an eye-opener. Finding out that making clothing for the festival is not as easy as I first thought caused a steep learning curve!
We have met some wonderful people over the years, a group of who we are in touch with on a day to day basis and have found so much in common with them, that they’ve become life-long friends. We’ve met others, who we aren’t in touch with quite as much, but are people we look forward to seeing each year at the festival. I write Regency Romances, so the talks and dances give me an insight into Regency life which I couldn’t necessarily get anywhere else and then being able to be in Regency costume whilst staying in the address Jane lived was amazing.
Finally, there was the extra special memory. Winning the ‘My Mr Darcy’ competition! A night in the Royal Crescent Hotel as our prize was amazing. Life would have been a lot less fun over the last decade without the Festival. There really are too many special memories to choose from. Thank you!
