Jane Austen Festival Bath Legacy

Festival Testimonials , anecdotes, memories, and more!

This year will be the 20th anniversary of the Jane Austen Festival in Bath! We are the longest running and largest festival dedicated to our favourite author. In celebration of this we would like to hear from you, our faithful and beloved festival supporters. We would love to hear all your festival memories, adventures, and perhaps any first time versus recent photos you may have stored away!

What has the festival meant to you? Did you discover your Mr Darcy at the festival? Or find your Austen sisters in the form of lifelong friends?!

We are creating this Jane Austen Festival Legacy page on our website, which we would love to fill with memories , anecdotes, photos and more, from all our festival attendees.

“To be in Bath, in Regency Dress, dancing in the same places that people danced in 200 years ago; to soak up the history of this charming city; to wander around the (mostly) empty streets, late at night…..it’s really an indescribable feeling.”

Juliana Gaul

“My delightful wedding took place during the 2009 festival. We have such fond memories of the week that we spent in utter indulgence of all things Regency.”

Kelly Charlesworth

“When visiting Bath in 2010, I remember seeing photos , in a shop window, of people dressed up in Regency costume . On finding out that it was a promenade and part of the Jane Austen Festival, I knew I wanted to be part of it!”

Alison Day

“What the Jane Austen festival means to us is hope, love and plenty of lace!”

Julia Jones

“With attending the Festival for ten years, there are so many wonderful memories to choose from!”

Audrey Harrison

“Myself and three of my sisters came in 2019. The parade and the whole day were such great fun. This year two more will join us!”

Elaine Khan

“The Meeting and Subsequent Courtship of Dr Helen Davidge and Sir Andris Wood.”
